When you first time arrive to Relto (your island hoovering in the sky) in Myst Online - Uru Live, you will see only one book, the Neighborhood Book on the bookshelf. As you advance in the game you'll have more and more books on the shelf, and several gateway images may appear in some books.
The clips found at the top of the Books can be turned up, this allows the visitors to use your Books. By clicking the clip at the bottom edge of a Book it can be reset (and the puzzles in that Age as well).
A very detailed guide to Linking Books can be found at the Guild of GreetersThe Neighborhood (Bevin) Book. It links directly to your Neighborhood. The Nexus Book links to a tiny Age. Different points of the city are available from there. Additional personal, private and public links are also available from the Nexus. The City Book. The links to the city are collected to this brown Book. On using a Bahro stone (linking stone) the first time, the appropriate link is added to this Book and that place can be reached later directly via this Book. The desert or cleft Book (dry and wet desert). It is available in the very beginning from the "hydrant" of Relto or only if your mission in the five basic Ages is fulfilled.
